The Lakshyas are targets for foundational literacy and numeracy that are based on learning outcomes developed by the NCERT and international research. The Lakshyas are set from Balvatika to Grade 3 to help generate awareness among parents, the community, and volunteers. For example, by the end of Grade II, a child should be able to read 45–60 words per minute, and by the end of Grade III, they should be able to read at least 60 words per minute correctly
